Free designated drivers coming to Indy

Date Posted: Fri, Dec 11 2015, Indianapolis Star
BeMyDD, a designated-driver service, is giving away free rides in Indianapolis just in time for the holidays.

On Dec. 19 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., people within a 50-mile radius of Downtown will be able to use the company’s pickup service for free.

Different than other ride-sharing services, BeMyDD drivers use your personal vehicle. You drive to the restaurant, bar, game or show. When you’re ready to go home, request a pickup, and a team of drivers are dispatched to your location. One driver will take you home in your car, and another one follows to pick up your driver.

To take advantage of the free night, users can request pickup in the city area on BeMyDD.com or by using the mobile app. The pickup service is typically $25 for car pickup plus $3.45 per mile to your final destination.

The event is part of the company’s 24 City Tour, a partnership with Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack Whiskey and Total Wine & More in an effort to promote responsible drinking.

Cleveland-based BeMyDD has been in operation in Indianapolis for three years. It also offers a personal driver service in which users pay hourly for a chauffeur.
