Ride with BeMyDD, help save animals: New Year's Eve campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio – BeMyDD - Be My Designated Driver - has launched the PuppyLovin' New Year's Eve campaign, created to rescue animals under the threat of unnecessary euthanization in kill shelters.

BeMyDD, which bills itself as the nation's largest designated-driver service, will dedicate $1 for every hour of designated-driver service provided on New Year's Eve to help transfer dogs to no-kill shelters. It's the busiest night of the year for designated drivers, the company said in a release.

About 2.7 million animals are euthanized in shelters each year, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

BeMyDD was founded in 2010 and operates in 76 markets in 31 states. It can provide two drivers to show up at a location. One drives the customer's car, and the other follows to give a ride to the BeMyDD driver. This way the customer can wake with his or her car at their home and not worry about retrieving the vehicle from the previous night's escapade.

In September, the company launched a series of free rides in cities in 16 states. Cleveland's day was Nov. 21, the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
