Evesham Saving Lives program ready for holiday weekend

Date Posted: Wed, Nov 25 2015, Courier Post
EVESHAM – If you plan on hanging out with your college buddies and having some cheer over this holiday weekend, don’t forget about the “Evesham Saving Lives” program.

Anyone who lives in Evesham Township will be provided a free pickup service from local bars and restaurants that serve liquor between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Uber and BeMyDD will provide rides to town residents.

There’s an Evesham Township Police Department smartphone app that allows users to look up pickup times at local establishments so they can coordinate a ride home. The app, available on Google Play and the iTunes App Store, also connects residents with other services and information. The Evesham app has a safe ride button, which can be pushed to take you to Uber and BeMyDD’s app sites.

Evesham Mayor Randy Brown encouraged residents earlier to “download these apps and have them on your phone. That way when you’re in a situation where you believe you need some assistance in getting home, it’ll already be on your phone.”

Uber’s drivers will pick up residents and take them home, while BeMyDD can take residents and their cars home.

The anti-DUI program was established to provide township residents who patronize local bars and restaurants with safe, alternative options to get home. The program was recently extended at least through the new year.
