BeMyDD to Offer Free Rides to Drunk Clevelanders Next Month

Date Posted: Mon, Oct 26 2015, Cleveland SCENE
Be My Designated Driver, a national company that promises to get drunk customers and their cars home safely, will offer Clevelanders the chance to try out their services next month — for free.

As part of a 24-city, 12-month tour, BeMyDD will swoop into town on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to give locals, as well as those who live up to 50 miles outside of the city center, access to a friendly, sober fleet of drivers between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Here's how it works:

The 24-City Designated Driver Tour, presented by BeMyDD and program partners Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack Whiskey and Total Wine & More, provides free drivers to take both the customer and his/her car home safely. During the event, customers can request a car pickup at no charge from any location within a 50-mile radius from the city center with the BeMyDD smartphone app, available for iOS and Android devices. A team of drivers will arrive at the customer’s location, one to drive the customer and their car home safely, and the other to retrieve the driver afterwards.

While the free ride event isn't scheduled for a few more weeks, the BeMyDD website shows the services is already active in the Cleveland area and currently offers personal chauffeur services for $17.50 an hour (minimum of three hours) or car pickup, $25 per car plus $3.45 for each mile. We've reached out to the BeMyDD team for comment and will update with additional info shortly.
