BeMyDD to give Broncos fans a sober ride home Saturday night

Date Posted: Fri, Feb 5 2016, The Denver Post
BeMyDD, the nation's largest designated driver service, announced yesterday it would provide safe rides to Denver residents on Saturday, ensuring the Super Bowl weekend festivities won't lead to getting behind the wheel drunk.

Denver is one stop among many during the 24-City Designated Driver Tour, an effort headed by BeMyDD and their partner Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack Whiskey.

The tour will provide free drivers to take both customers and their cars home safely. Customers simply request a pickup at no charge from any location within a 50-mile radius from the city center, according to the news release.

Drivers will arrive at the location in teams, one to drive the customer and their vehicle home safely, the other to retrieve the designated driver.

"A lot of people who live in places like the suburbs will drive places because on busy nights, like this weekend with the Super Bowl, there are surges in the prices of taxis and Ubers," BeMyDD spokeswoman Alexa Milkovich said. "We find that's why people get in their car drunk in the first place — they don't want to leave it somewhere or have to go back for it in the morning, so they take the risk."

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, a drunk driver kills someone every 52 minutes.

Milkovich recommends making a reservation in advance through the app in order to avoid delayed response time later in the night. The service will be operating between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday night.

The promo code DDTOUR is also available for Denver residents to receive $20 off their first ride.

"We're just trying to keep Denver a little safer this weekend," Milkovich said.
