BeMyDD drives to provide safe transportation for bar patrons, partygoers

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, BeMyDD wants partygoers to celebrate responsibly.

BeMyDD, or Be My Designated Driver, is a nationwide personal designated driver service that uses the customer’s vehicle to provide a safe way to travel, especially when consuming alcohol.

“We go by the slogan, ‘We drive your car, so you don’t have to’,” Alexa Milkovich, chief marketing officer and co-owner of BeMyDD, said. “We are trying to promote planning ahead and being safe on the roads.”

There are two main services that are offered through BeMyDD: personal driver and pick up.
With the personal driver service, customers can reserve a driver to come pick them up at their home and drive anywhere they would like to go for $16 an hour in the Cleveland area. The driver leaves his or her car at the customer’s home and will drive the customer’s car. The driver is always in the customers vehicle ready to leave for the next location.

With the pickup service, customers who already have driven to a location can use BeMyDD to have a team of drivers come to pick them and their car up, and safely bring them and their car home for $25 plus mileage.

“A big reason why people get behind the wheel after drinking is because they need to get their car home,” she said. “We are different than a taxi or limo because we will take care of getting you and your car home, or we can chauffeur you around in your car. It’s really inexpensive compared to an OVI.”

Milkovich said all personal drivers have over 10 years of experience, and all drivers are interviewed with background checks to make sure they are not registered sex offenders and have no OVIs.

The company also has an $11 million auto insurance policy.
Customers can plan ahead, by phone, web or mobile app, to reserve a day and times they need a personal driver and where they would like to go. The company then pairs a driver with the customer based on location and availability. In the Cleveland area, Milkovich said on average 100 drivers can be available.

Customers can request a driver if they have had a good experience before, which allows the company’s drivers to build a clientele and customers feel more comfortable because they already know the driver, she added.

“BeMyDD is keeping the roads and community safe by not driving under the influence,” she said. “It is also allowing customers to give back to the community by hiring a local part-time driver.”

Services offered by BeMyDD also can be used for anytime a customer needs a driver, such as a doctor appointment, ride to the airport and business meetings.
BeMyDD is celebrating its four-year anniversary on March 17.
The company was started in Cleveland by Milkovich and Arthur Simanovsky, president, CEO and co-owner, and has grown to offering services in 74 cities in 31 states. They are both graduates of Solon High School.

It is suggested those interested reserve a driver in advance because they can sell out quickly, especially around holidays.
