Be My DD is coming to Shreveport

Date Posted: Sat, Mar 3 2012, KTBS Shreveport
It's a sad and scary fact. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, more than 10,000 die of drunk driving related accidents every year, and about one out of every 3 people will be involved in one of those accidents in their lifetimes. However, one service moving to Shreveport is preventing drinking and driving by providing professional designated drivers. You might want to call these hired drivers lifesavers. Sunnie Simon will soon be one.

"About 24 hours before pickup, we'll contact them," Simon said. "If we get a good feeling about them then we'll go ahead and take the job."

That job keeps drunk drivers off of our roads. Simon is the Shreveport manager of Be My DD, an Ohio based company that allows you to hire a designated driver.

"We were fresh out of college, we realized that in a city like Cleveland, Ohio the cabs weren't as accessible as they need to be or as they should've been." Patrick Kucharson, Be My DD's chief operations officer.

Kucharson added that his company hired more than 40 drivers in the Shreveport area. All of which have had background checks and most are female. He pointed out that Be My DD has a clean record.

"It speaks volumes that we're already in 17 states," he Kucharson told KTBS. "We have not had a major accident yet."

Shreveport club owner Tim Huck said Be My DD is a good idea, and his businesses could profit from the company's services. He also stated his customers will love it.

"It's an easy way to keep their car safe but also being able to wake up in the morning and still have your car in your driveway," Huck said.

However, Be My DD can also save your life. So, next time you go out, don't forget to give them a call. You'll have to wait until March 11th, though. That's when their services begin.
